First Post

Hmmm. First post and not much to say. Here are a couple headlines from today:
Kurd officials sanction abductions in Kirkuk- why does that not surprise me.

Schiavo autopsy Released; no signs of abuse and she was blind and in pvs- that's not too surprising either. I wonder if Fox News will apologize for their constant demonization of Michael Schiavo as an abuser. Probably not.

Ex-Baylor Athlete Sentenced for Slaying; claimed people were trying to kill him because he was "Jesus, the son of God"- One would think that type of thing is permitted in Texas.

Indonesia Reports Human Bird Flu Case- Should anyone really care. I mean with Michael Jackson's post trial reporting, should Americans be concerned with a mutating flu that humans are defenseless against and has the potential to wipe out more people than the influezna epidemic of the early 20th century?
Even if a person shows no symptoms, the infection still poses a serious health risk. Health experts worry that a person could catch both avian influenza and an ordinary flu bug at the same time, presenting a chance for the viruses to swap genetic material and produce an entirely new lethal strain that can easily be passed among people. If this happens, WHO officials warn that tens of millions of people could die worldwide.

I'm searching for something uplifting, however my effort is proving futile. Someone once said that they read the sports page first because it is filled with human achievement while the front page is filled with misery (that was a terrible paraphrase, but I have neither the time nor inclination to look it up properly). However, I could care less about baseball and the NBA is miserable, so a depressing news day it is, and shall remain.
